They say you go to college to find a career, but at Rowan University, many of our alumni find something even more permanent: a partner for life. This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating some of the couples whose greatest Rowan achievement wasn’t just a degree—it was finding each other.

Samantha '15 & Keith '15

Our meet-cute was very much of the time—a frat party where Rihanna’s “We Found Love” was playing. Ten years later, we got married almost to the exact day we met. That song was our entrance song into the reception.

Our wedding felt like a huge reunion of our Rowan friends.

Ninety percent of our bridal party attended Rowan, and almost all of them are also married to their Prof Sweetheart. Our wedding favors were President Ali Houshmound’s Hazardous Hot Sauce. It was a huge hit!

Sydnee '20 & Ben '22

Since our days at Rowan, we’ve navigated a pandemic, moved across the country to UC Berkeley, and traveled the world—from Vietnam to Italy. Ben proposed in a rose garden surrounded by our Rowan family, and this past July, we finally said "I Do" back home in New Jersey.

A timeline of us:

2019: Co-RAs at The Whitney Center (Ask us about the 3 a.m. crossword puzzle).
2023: Proposal at the Berkeley Rose Garden.
2025: Married in NJ surrounded by our Rowan and California families.
2026: Exploring the world before heading back to Jersey.

Connor '16 & Cassie '17 Proposal

After a walk down memory lane on Saturday, February 7, Connor surprised Cassie with a proposal at the Rowan University arch. She said yes! "Our journey began in a 2013 Public Speaking class. We're excited to spend the rest of our lives together!"

Dawn '91 & John '92

Dr. Carol Sharp assigned a classroom management project that became a life-long project for John Agoston and myself! Not only was he cute, but John was also a serious student, and we got an A on the project.

We became friends while working on the project and have been married since 1995!

We shared our first kiss outside of Robinson Hall, and here we are 30+ years later. I am forever grateful for this life we have created.

We have been happily married since July 22, 1995. Our two daughters, Carly (2023) and Sarah (2026), are also graduates of Rowan University. It is amazing to see the growth of the campus, and we enjoy returning with family and friends!

Walking to a class meeting at Bunce Hall changed everything.

Between our SGA days and our shared love for sports, we realized we’d actually been on the same football fields years prior—him playing for Delsea and me cheerleading for Pennsville. It turns out our worlds were already more connected than we thought!

Erika '12 & Stephanie '10

Erika and I met on the Women’s softball team! She was one of our pitchers and I was one of the catchers.

We met on the softball fields in 2009 and got engaged at the fields in 2020.

We got married in 2021 and now have two girls. Brynlee is 3, and Kenzie is 5 months. We love spending time with the girls and, of course, still play softball!

Rowan brought us together. At our wedding in 2017, we (of course!) had to have our Rowan flag and took plenty of pictures, even with some of our Rowan alumni friends.

After getting married and buying our first home, we got a dog who we named Rowan, after where we met and fell in love. We also now have three amazing boys ages 5, 4, and 2. We show them pictures and tell them where we met. I even brought them to the Edelman Fossil Park last year and showed them Rowan's campus.

Safiya '18 & Brandon '17

We met my freshman year in Mimosa Hall - he actually met my parents first in the parking lot because my mom asked him for help with my boxes. She then had him setting up my printer and I was mortified!

We met August 30, 2014, started dating August 30, 2015, and married on August 30, 2024.

I find it so funny that my mom and dad met him first. The last thing my mom said to Brandon before she left me for school was, "Please watch out for her and keep an eye out."

When I brought him home for Christmas in 2015, she joked that he didn't have to keep that close of an eye on me!
